cloth
Cloth are Scottish twins Rachael and Paul Swinton. Championed by BBC Radio 6 Music DJs Huw Stephens, Guy Garvey and Tom Robinson and acclaimed by publications such as Pitchfork and The Guardian, the band’s new single, ‘Polaroid’ is out now via Mogwai’s Rock Action Records.
Blending intricate alt-rock guitar interplay with Rachael’s signature gossamer-thin vocal, Secret Measure received critical acclaim from publications including The Guardian, Pitchfork, CLASH and Uncut and was shortlisted for the 2023 Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award.
(alternative / indie)
Fourth Daughter
With her music’s arresting blend of pulsating synths, luminous soundscapes and her own radiant vocals, listening to Fourth Daughter feels like bathing in the Balearic sun.
With plenty of support slots under her belt including Sylvan Esso, Japanese House & SG Lewis to name but a few, Fourth Daughter took to headlining her solo show in Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2023 and rounded it off with a slot at BBC Introducing live at the Edinburgh festival.
(electronic)
Jacob Alon
Jacob Alon is a Scottish singer-songwriter with a profound gift for storytelling.
Both intimate and devastatingly introspective, their music is touched by a rare timelessness. Drawing fair comparisons to artists such as Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright, Alon’s sound cuts through the air with their powerful and haunting vocals, intricate guitar playing, and pensive, poetic lyrics.
(singer-songwriter)
Kapil Seshasayee
British-Tamil artist Kapil Seshasayee tells the stories other artists are afraid to tell with a guitar style all his own - combining Carnatic Indian classical music, R'n'B and jazz fusion.
Singles from his most LP “Laal” have featured at Rolling Stone India, NPR, BBC Radio4 and BBC Asian Network.
Kapil has showcased songs from "Laal" across SXSW, South Asian festival Dialled in, Latitude Festival, The Roundhouse and venues such as the Concorde 2 in Brighton alongside artists such as Tinariwen, Talvin Singh and Raghu Dixit.
(Indian Fusion)
corto.alto
Fast-emerging Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist corto.alto has been described as a traditional jazz head raised in the age of the internet.
The moniker of Glasgow-based Liam Shortall, corto.alto brings a fresh perspective to a heady mix of intuitive improvisation, electronic production, broken beat bounce and bass-heavy dub. His debut album ‘Bad With Names’ out in Oct 2023 was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2024.
It’s an honest and iconoclastic work. challenging the boundaries of contemporary jazz.
