Hosted by Wide Days and Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, Made In Scotland Gigs is a music strand of the Made in Scotland showcase, taking place on Friday 15 August at La Belle and Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh.

Eight acts based in Scotland from across the genre spectrum, will be selected by a panel of international music professionals and media to showcase to a public and industry audience.

The event will help participating artists make connections with media and music business professionals, as well as with the international visitors that the Fringe brings to Edinburgh.

Artist applications are open now, and close on Wed 14 May at 17:00 BST. See below for full details and criteria.

Key Info

  • Applications open Wed 16 April at 19:00 BST

  • The deadline to apply is Wed 14 May at 17:00 BST

  • Applications will be assessed by an independent panel of music industry figures

  • If required, final-stage interviews will take place via zoom on Wed 4 or Thu 5 June

Offer

Selected artists will receive grants of between £500 - £1,000 (based on individual artists’ circumstances), to cover the costs relating to their performance in terms of advance briefing, rehearsal, travel/accommodation and for the performance itself.

A limited budget is available on top of the grant, for artists with additional costs arising from childcare or accessibility requirements. Moreover, acts traveling from outside the Central Belt can request a contribution towards travel and accommodation.

Details are outlined in the application form and the amount provided will be determined by Made In Scotland.

The Events

Made in Scotland Gigs will take place on the evening of Friday 15 August in Edinburgh’s Cowgate.

Alongside invited industry and media professionals, the shows will be listed on the Fringe website and tickets will be available to the public through its box office. Each act will also be provided with a small guest list allocation.

There will be a pre-event online briefing on 6 August (17:00-20:00), as well as an in-person networking event on 15 August (final time tbc).

Artists and/or a representative will be required to attend both.
